Cops Put Squeeze on OJ

Hahahaha. I’ve been dying to say that for years. Who would have thought that such an overrated guy could get into serious, felony trouble twice. What did he not leearn from the first time around? “Wait a minute, let me get the maid’s story” the famous “Minute Maid” defense 😛

Poor OJ, if he only knew how badly the world is laughing at him right now.

Hey, even Gary Coleman got a clue…eventually.

One of those mornings…

So I’m driving home from the day job this morning, and passing the pond by my house, I see this wonderful mist rising off from it.. the water is dead still, and the reflections of the morning light in the sky were shining almost as brightly as the sky itself… and I knew today was the day. I finished the drive home, fed the cat, grabbed the camera, and drove back to get a few shots. Talk about Opportunity knocking…

I don’t know if any of them have turned out yet, 12 hour night shifts aren’t exactly made for doing photprocessing at 7am, but… I have high hopes that I’ll have at least one really nice frame to post in the next day or so :=)

Thoughts on the Iphone…

So I’ve been thinking about getting the iphone for various reasons. But I can’t help but be really, really picky before I make any rash decisions. I see that today the iphone is now sim-unlockable, and of course, the recent news that 200$ was knocked off the price isn’t helping much.

What I’d really like to see or know… is whether or not the really usefull apps such as Firefox and Thunderbird are or will be available, I really -don’t- like the native Apple apps. Sorry guys, I just don’t. I also think we can do better than 8gb, and be truly on a 3G network… but if it’s 3G capable, I’m good with it. 🙂

Honestly, it’s a great idea in concept for motorcycle riding, especially on long trips. Dragging the laptop around on the longer ones can be a pain, and something small, accessable, and 2 way would be nice, that also limits the amount I have to carry… and especially CHARGE… on the road.

We’ll see…

Birthday Coup….

Some very special Gypsy got this old wolf one of his own prints for his birthday. Not only did she get the print, she got it on the canvas instead of photo paper, something I’ve been meaning to do for some time. I haven’t priced it out yet, because I hadn’t seen a sample. Of course, now I have no further excuses… but it sure does look neat. Here’s the picture in question :=)

Terrawolf Photography Wolf photo

Thump thump….

The heart still beats within my chest. Although at this hour of the morning, I rather do feel a bit undead. The rain outside has me in a rather odd, contemplative mood. Hopefully it will provide some much needed relief to the farmers… but I’ll taek sunshine any day of the week… even if I have to sleep through it to ensure the shifts get covered and the bills get paid.

I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to getting TerraWolf Photography the rest of the way off the ground. Granted, I have this huge, massive mountain of work to do that is only the barest fringes of tertially-related activities as far as actual photography is concerned, but the fact of the matter is, when trying to do something as a business, “what you do/sell” is only a tiny fraction of the reality. At least I’m getting further along in my base knowledge of the rest of it. SEO and portal concepts have finally gelled itno something I can work with and learn as I go. And I thought “Digital Darkroom” was going to be my challenge! Hah!

Finally got off my duff and bought some frames for some of my prints that I’ve been meaning to frame for a while. My wall’s been lonely, and I really want to have a daily reminder of how awesome my prints really are 🙂 Humility is commendable, but unfortunately I have too much of it to effectively market my own work as something interesting… maybe seeing it every day will help me tell other people how nice it is. Then again, maybe not… I’ve never taken complements well… always thought they were bait to get you to stand still long enough for the sandbag to drop.

About time for an update…

Been a pretty fun couple of days, but now I’m back at work. Daily commutes, daily news. Some of it is boring and repetitive, some fresh and new.

I’ve been listening to NPR a lot more these days. Seems that the reporting is a lot more in depth, about a lot more intelligent topics as opposed the day’s body count in iraq and the 60 second sound bites on the local news radio. Hey, traffic and weather is great… but lets hear some details. And don’t get me started on Iraq, Bush, Islamic Fundamentalists, or any of a host of other topics. Lets just say that I feel a significant portion of the people involved in many of the newsmaking items need their heads surgically removed from their nether regions.

Could I do it better? Yep. No doubt about it.

Plus, the other nice thing about NPR? I haven’t heard a dang thing about Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Vick, or any of the other notorious celebrity wankers that pollute the airwaves to the delight of lowbrow scumdwellers the world over.

That wasn’t very nice, was it?

We, as a culture seem so fully detached from the rules of objective reality under which this universe operates. Action creates Reaction. Violence creates violence. Fame breeds emulation. The only rule we seem to follow nowadays is entropy.

A man who admitted chopping off the head of his 3 kids gets his conviction overturned after he admitted it in court… because his wife/accomplice changed her testimony??? This is sane? How?

We’re finding all sorts of plane wrecks in the sierra’s that noone ever found, and finding them now because a millionaire gets lost for a few days?

Oil companies are now raising prices because of a cat 1 hurricane in the gulf of mexico? What, is any excuse to gouge the american public acceptable now? “Britney flashed skin on national TV, time for another nickel a gallon at the pump”

I could, and probably will go on, but this insanity is totally pointless.

On the plus side: Thank you, NPR, for talking about what matters.

Maybe you’ll see this….

Yes, you, Ma’am. The one with the blond, neckline bob… driving the silver minivan with your daughter in the passenger seat, taking the offramp to 7100 from I66 in Virginia. I was the rider you almost killed. What? What do you mean “what rider?” When you came right, into my lane, at the last minute… you didn’t see me in your mirror? I saw you… your head didn’t turn a whit. Your daughter saw me when I laid on the horn.. yet still you came over. Why? What cause have I given you to kill me? I was riding safely, legally, completely within my lane. I was riding on my commute, to work, on my 37th Birthday. Very close to having been my last one. I had my auxilliary headlights on for good visibility, wearing light colored riding clothes.

“I wasn’t trying to kill you!” you say? Ma’am, respectfully, by not looking in your mirror before you moved your 4,000 pound vehicle, you took that risk. Do you want your daughter to have to go to school and say “My mommy murdered a motorcyclist yesterday, I’m scared she’ll go to prison!” You know what spared you and your daughter the humiliation? God, my peripheral vision, and my reflexes.

Wake up. Please.

Regards,

Mark Salowitz (The man you almost killed)

Yet another one gone…

Today’s is Madeleine L’Engle, author of “A Wrinkle in Time”, “A Wind in the Door”, and “A Swiftly Tilting Planet”. For myself, I grew up dreaming of tesseracts and visiting Patagonia someday :=)

Rest well, Madame.

Something I noticed

The interesting juxtaposition of the death of Luciano Pavoratti and the spectacular eruption of Mt. Aetna both of which were coverred on CNN late last night…

Fascinating…

For the first time since I’ve been back from my meanderings around one national park or another, I actually got a reasonably respectable night’s sleep. I think the last time I slept this well was in glacier after reaching the titular “turn-around” of my expedition.

Who knows, I may actually get my rythm back one of these days!
